Hank founded The Henry Levy Group in 1991 (originally established as Henry C. Levy & Company, CPAs and Consultants) and has nearly 30 years of in-depth experience in public and private accounting. He is widely regarded for his broad expertise by professionals and clients alike. Among his many disciplines, Hank’s skills include: tax compliance, tax research and planning, political campaign compliance and financial reporting, litigation consulting services, business valuation, fraud examination, nonprofit organization auditing and business consultation. He is a Certified Public Accountant and also holds certifications in Financial Forensics and Fraud Examination, as well as accreditation in Business Valuation.
His Expert Witness trial experience and court service in the Bay Area has included depositions and testimonials in family law, employment, civil-dispute matters and labor negotiations.
Hank has held multiple leadership roles for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants over the past two decades, and is a member of many professional associations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Contra Costa Bar Family Law Section.
Currently, he is a member of the Alameda County Assessment Appeals Board and is on the Board of Directors for Senior Medi-Benefits in Berkeley. Past community service includes the City of Oakland’s Business Budget Advisory Committee, Oakland Concerned Citizens for Urban Renewal and the Oakland Unified School District Budget Advisory Committee.
Throughout his career, Hank has combined his significant financial knowledge with active civic participation, community volunteerism and teaching. His past teaching experience includes serving as an instructor for the California Society of CPAs, and as an adjunct faculty member on a wide range of academic disciplines for City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University and Laney College in Oakland. He has also been a lecturer and faculty expert at the University of California, Hastings College of Advocacy, San Mateo and Contra Costa Community Services Committee, the University of California, Berkeley's Institute of Industrial Relations and the AFL-CIO’s various business and labor organizations.
In addition to his many professional hats, Hank also wears an Oakland A’s baseball cap. An avid sports enthusiast, Hank serves as a baseball and softball umpire for various umpire associations throughout the Bay Area for all levels of baseball — from Little League through college and adult men’s teams.
He received a bachelor’s degree in History from Swarthmore College and a master’s degree in Industrial Management from San Jose State University, and completed accounting and tax courses at California State University and Golden Gate University in order to obtain his CPA designation.
